Sound of the Environment - 12:00 noon,The first Wednesday of every month,  Reith Interpretive Center located at 421 W. Plymouth Ave, Goshen, led by Melissa Kinsey with the Goshen Parks District.  Melissa always has an interesting presenter and a lively discussion at this meeting.  It is a lunch time gathering and geared to all things which can and do affect the environment.  Feel free to bring a sack lunch

Lecture: "Soil, Not Oil: Food Security in Times of Climate Change" - Vandana Shiva, Ph.D., international environmental activist
Date/Time: 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 27
Location: Goshen College Church-Chapel
Cost: Advance sales price is $10 general and $5 students. Prices at the door will be $12 and $7. Tickets for this lecture go on sale through the Goshen College Welcome Center (574) 535-7566 on March 1.
Dr. Vandana Shiva is a physicist, ecologist, activist, editor and author of many books. In India she has established Navdanya, a movement for biodiversity conservation and farmers' rights, and she is the Founding Director of Research Foundation for Science, Technology and Ecology, a network of researchers specializing in ecology, health and sustainability. She has established a school for sustainability, Bija Vidyapeeth, on the Navdanya Biodiversity Farm in Doon Valley. Her most recent books are Earth Democracy and Water Wars. She is on the Board of International Forum on Globalisation and World Future Council and she is the Vice President of the global movement Slow Food International.

Dr. Shiva's visit is sponsored by the Ecological Stewardship Committee of Goshen College, the Agroecology Program of the Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center of Goshen College and Organic Valley Co-op.
